Relatives & Residents Association

We support, inform and speak on behalf of older people in care

Coronavirus and care: news roundup

The Relatives & Residents Association are working to ensure the voices of older people using care services, and the families/friends who support them, are heard during the Coronavirus crisis. Recently we have highlighted the following key concerns and issues, arising from our helpline callers:

“As care homes went into lockdown and restricted visits from family members, this coincided with a relaxing or ceasing of the normal checks and processes to ensure older people receive quality care” Helen Wildbore, Director of the Relatives & Residents Association told the Guardian.

The R&RA Helpline is hearing daily from the family members and friends of those receiving care, with concerns and anxiety about the crisis unfolding in care. We will continue to push for action to ensure the rights of older people requiring care are respected and protected.
