Through a pilot project with the CQC, we are helping relatives make a difference.
We are working with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to help relatives' voices to be heard. We are looking at how calls to our helpline can inform CQC and help them protect residents. During the pilot, anyone contacting us who is worried about quality of care will have their information passed immediately to CQC. In turn, CQC will update us with any action they take.

Will a voluntary registration scheme raise the standard?
The Government is proposing a new scheme of voluntary registration of care workers. The scheme would be similar to registration of doctors and nurses - but unlike health professionals who must be registered with a regulatory body before they can work, the Government insists that any registration scheme for care workers must be voluntary.
