Reform should ensure care services are adequately funded, but also focus on the quality of the care
14 October 2019: The Relatives and Residents Association welcomes the proposal in today’s Queen’s Speech to “reform adult social care in England to ensure dignity in old age”. We have long been calling for reform to services for older people in care.
Legislative change is long overdue, having been on the table and off the table, for a number of years. We welcome this urgently needed reform being back on the government’s agenda.
We also welcome the commitment to ensure dignity for older people in care. Reform should ensure care services are adequately funded, but also focus on the quality of the care provided to ensure older people are treated with dignity and respect. We look forward to working to ensure a long-term, sustainable solution for these vital care services.
