The Relatives & Residents Association has signed an open letter to the Prime Minister calling for a ‘1948 moment’ for social care, to establish a long-term and sustainable future for the sector. The joint letter, signed by 28 organisations and Parliamentarians, recognises that the current system leaves many families struggling to survive as each year thousands of people face losing their home and financial hardship.
R&RA’s director, Helen Wildbore, said:
“The pandemic has shone a spotlight on the problems with the social care sector and highlighted the desperate need for reform. A year of unremitting challenges has seen services stretched to breaking point. Investment is urgently needed to build a sustainable system with quality at its heart.”
